Austin Babcock hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left Tuesday night to lift the Rock Falls Rockets to a 50-49 victory over Alleman in Rock Island.
Steven Armoska led the Rockets (21-6) with another double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Babock, who also hit a 3 with 41 seconds left to bring Rock Falls to within 49-47, finished with 11 points, as did Jace Anderson. Anderson nabbed three steals, and Daegan Wharff chipped in three points, six rebounds and four assists.
Kevin O’Keeffe led Alleman (7-17) with 23 points and nine steals, while Adam Hoogerwerf added 15 points.
Sandwich 53, Dixon 49:
The Dukes kept fouling Dakota Padilla, and he kept hitting free throws to salt away a
nonconference victory at Lancaster Gym.
Dixon (3-23) got 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists from Cal Jarrett, but Padilla hit eight of nine free-throw attempts to finish with 12 points. Jake Roehn led Sandwich (7-15) with 19 points.
Isaiah Roby added 10 points and nine rebounds for Dixon.
Paw Paw 71, Prophets-town 56: The Prophets played the top-seeded Bulldogs close through three quarters in a season-ending loss in Erie.
Prophetstown (14-15) trailed by just one (37-36) at halftime and only four (51-47) after three periods, but Paw Paw (21-5) outscored the Prophets 20-9 in the final quarter.
Devin Johnson scored 14, Carter Ames had 12, and Zach Inskeep added 10 for Prophetstown. Zach Lilja scored 28 points to pace Paw Paw.
Sauk Valley 76, Highland 72: Jalen Riley tossed in 29 points to lead the Skyhawks past the Cougars in Freeport.
Also for Sauk Valley, which avenged a 79-60 home loss on Jan. 29, Daven Ottley finished with 15 points and Carlos Hendrix added 11. Riley hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining to put the Skyhawks up 74-72, and two free throws from Magd Owayed with 5 seconds left sealed the win.
Deon Andrews led Highland with 28 points, and Patrick Onwenu added 20.
Highland 62, Sauk Valley 56: Sheldeen Joseph stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Skyhawks in a loss to the Cougars in Freeport.
Also for Sauk Valley, Brianna Richardson had 12 points and 10 boards, Arlicia Turner had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Holly Nicklaus added nine points and eight boards.
Katie Clark scored 20 points to pace Highland, and Ieshia Barkley added 19.
