Morrison High School to present American music concert
MORRISON – The Morrison High School music department will present a free concert of American music at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the MHS auditorium.
The concert will open with the Symphonic Choir performing a variety of American music, including “Chester” by 18th century composer William Billings, “The Road Not Taken” by 20th century American composer Randall Thompson and the African-American spiritual “Soon-ah-Will-be-Done” arranged by William Dawson.
The MHS Concert Band will continue with “A Copland Tribute,” which combines sections of Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for a Common Man” with “Appalachian Spring.” Next on the program will be senior Alyssa Patten, daughter of Mike and Deanne Patten, who will perform the first movement of “Concerto for Piano” by Felix Mendelssohn.
