Kathleen A. Card

STERLING – Kathleen A. Card passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at her home, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Kathy was born April 6, 1959, in Rockford, the daughter of Terry M. and Judith C. Friel. She attended Rockford Public schools and graduated from East High in 1977. Kathy married Samuel S. Card on Dec. 13, 1991, in Rockford.

Kathy most recently worked for The First National Bank In Amboy, Dixon South and Dixon North locations.

Kathy is survived by her husband; her mother, Judi of Rockford; her father-in-law, Dick Card of Sterling; two sisters, Kris (Tom) Clark of Rockford and Kari (Neil) Vincer of Roscoe; a brother, Kelly (Holly) Friel of Roscoe; sister-in-law, Sue (Ron) DeJonge of Sterling; brother-in-law, Tom (Vickie) Card of Michigan; nieces, Jordan Friel, Brianna and Bailey Vincer, Valorie (Chris) Hicks, and Shannon DeJonge; nephews, Josh and Jaryd Magnuson, Sean Friel, Brock Vincer, and Richard (Laurie) Card II; grandmother, Hazel Friel of Rockford; uncles, Larry (Jane) Friel of Rockford and Reggie (Sissy) Anderson of Amelia, Ohio; and numerous cousins, including Mark Friel of Rockford.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father; mother-in-law, Janis Card; maternal grandparents; paternal grandfather; and uncle, Donald Anderson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the ALS Foundation, Gaffey Home Nursing & Hospice, and Granny Rose.
