Local schools take part in academic contest
BYRON – Byron High School students placed fourth during the Masonic Academic Bowl sectional tournament Feb. 6 at Byron Middle School.
The winner at the Byron competition was Keith Country Day School of Rockford. Other local teams competing at Byron were Ashton-Franklin Center, Forreston, and Oregon, high schools.
Another of the 30 statewide sectionals was at Fulton High School. Morrison High School won first place; Newman Central Catholic High School in Sterling took second, while Bureau Valley High School won third and Fulton won fourth. Other area high schools competing at Fulton were Amboy, Erie, Milledgeville, Prophetstown, and West Carroll in Savanna.
