Illinois marks the anniversary of Korean War's end

SPRINGFIELD (AP) — The state of Illinois is commemorating the 60th anniversary this year of the end of the Korean War by making information available each month about the state's involvement in the conflict.

The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, along with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, is sponsoring the initiative.

The Korean War ended with a cease-fire in July 1953.

Among the information released for the month of March 1953 is a list of names of the Illinoisans killed in action in Korea that month as well as a description of key events in the war for the month.

There's also information on how to listen to a collection of oral histories recorded by Illinois residents about their wartime experiences.
