City looking for an IT employee

DIXON – The City Council will vote to advertise a position for an information technology employee at tonight’s meeting.

Mayor Jim Burke said the city does not have an IT employee on staff. The city budgets $80,000 to $85,000 for technology services and is looking for a full-time position to cut those overhead costs.

The council also will vote to place on file a loan for facade improvements to The Ginkgo Tree Cafe, 216 W. First St., owned by Trirong Khuntangta.

The low-interest facade loan program, which has about $150,000 in its account, has been used by many city businesses to make improvements.

Dixon resident Jay Aguilar asked to be on the agenda to discuss city inspections on rental properties.

The council meets at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 121 W. Second St. Go to www.discoverdixon.org and click on “Citizens Information Center” or call City Hall, 815-288-1485, for an agenda.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
