STERLING – A benefit for a Sterling man recovering from a massive heart attack will be held at noon Saturday at the Latin American Social Club, 2708 W. Lincolnway.

Keith Knutsen, 55, is undergoing rehabilitation for brain trauma caused by the November heart attack, said his daughter, Callie Knutsen.

“Every day, there’s some improvement. It’ll probably be a year of rehab,” she said.

Keith makes and installs countertops at Knutsen Cabinet & Countertops in Sterling. He and his wife, Holly, have five children, Callie, Zachary, Nicholas, Christopher, and Jennifer, all at home.

Meals at the benefit will be $5. A live auction starts at 5 p.m., with a Wisconsin Dells wilderness lodge trip among the items. There also will be a silent auction.

A raffle drawing for $500 will be held at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, and the winner does not need to be present. They are available from organizers or at the event.

There will be a bake sale, and can koozies will be sold for $3 each.

A DJ will spin tunes until 5 p.m., and the Comedians and the Hershey Squirts will play after 9 p.m.

Items still are being accepted for the auctions and bake sale. Baked goods can be given to organizers, or dropped off after 10 a.m. Saturday at the center.

Call Chris Schueler at 815-590-8678, Erin Hartman at 815-213-0652, or Katy Conklen at 779-245-8247 to make donations or buy raffle tickets.
