EFFINGHAM – Training by phone is available from the Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center.

Classes focus on developing a better understanding of a parent’s role in educational support and services for a child with special learning needs.

Sessions will be from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, and noon to 1 p.m. Fridays.

The topics are: March 4, dealing with bullying and harassment; March 11, teaching expected behaviors; March 18, providing flexible support to students; and March 25, discipline of students with Individualized Education Programs.

March 5, Specific, Measurable, Use Action Word, Realistic and Relevant and Time-limited goals; March 12, adaptations that support goal achievement; March 19, related services in IEPs; and March 26, educational services.

March 8, Evaluation and Response to Intervention data; March 15, preparing for an IEP meeting; March 22, the IEP document; and March 29, communication and collaboration at the IEP meeting.
