AMBOY – A man was sent to a Rockford hospital after his car collided Thursday with a semitrailer, authorities said.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m., Brandon Acker, 23, of Villa Park, a Chicago suburb, was driving west on U.S. Route 30 near Amboy when his car collided with a Dohm Transport semitrailer driven by Jeff Crowe, 48, of Prophetstown, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.

Acker was taken by helicopter to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. A hospital spokeswoman said she had no information on Acker.
