Boys hoops roundup: Polo junior thrives in Senior Night rout of AFC

enior Night brought out the best in Polo junior AJ Dollmeyer, who posted 31 points 16 rebounds in an 81-54 NUIC East victory over AFC on Tuesday in Polo.

Brian Cavanaugh added 12 points and six assists for Polo (18-7, 9-3 NUIC East). Troy Mairs led AFC (8-15, 2-10) with 12 points.

Oregon 68, Amboy 39: Hawks senior Caleb Mowry scored all 20 of his points in the first half of a nonconference victory in Amboy.

Tyson Powers led Amboy (6-20) with 17 points. Holden White added 13 for Oregon (14-13).

ACSI tournament

Faith Christian 54, Tri-State 27: Behind Adam Dettman’s 14 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists, the Falcons cruised into the quarterfinals in Kankakee.

Faith (16-10), the tourney’s No. 3 seed, led 31-14 at the half, and will face 11th-seeded Coulee Christian in the quarterfinals at 10:30 this morning. A victory there would earn a shot at No. 2 Colinsville in the semis at 7:30 p.m.
