OREGON – Ogle County Educational Cooperative staff and local school districts will provide free preschool screenings for children 3 to 5. Appointments are encouraged.

The screenings are to identify any children who may qualify for a school district’s early childhood or prekindergarten program. Assessments include checking children’s readiness in concepts, language, and motor skills. Vision and hearing also will be screened.

The dates, sites, and contact phone numbers for the screenings, are listed by school district:

Amboy: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 20 at Amboy Central School, 30 E. Provost St. Call 815-857-3619.

Rochelle, Kings, Eswood, Creston, and Steward: 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. March 5 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 11 at Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 Fourth Ave. A Spanish-speaking interpreter will be present. Call Central Elementary School at 815-562-8251 for English or 815-562-2400 for Spanish.

Polo: 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. March 7 at Faith United Methodist Church, 702 E. Dixon St. Call Centennial Elementary School at 815-946-3811.

Meridian: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 13 and 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. March 14 at Stillman Valley Fire Department, 200 S. Rural Road. Call Highland Elementary School at 815-645-8188.

Oregon: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 12 at United Methodist Church, 200 S. Fourth St., Oregon, and 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. March 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 308 E. Brayton Road, Mount Morris. Call Oregon (Jefferson) Elementary School at 815-732-2911 for both sessions.

AFC: 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. March 19 at St. John Lutheran Church, 803 Paddock Ave., Ashton. Call AFC Elementary School at 815-456-2325.
