Program focuses on wild mushrooms

FULTON  – Mitch Gravert of Green Island, Iowa, will present a free program about edible mushrooms at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Windmill Cultural Center, 111 10th Ave.

In “Iowa’s Edible Mushrooms,” Gravert will discuss familiar morels, and six common, edible, wild mushrooms found locally.

He will give tips about where and when to hunt mushrooms, and how to identify, cook, and store them. Gravert has been hunting and eating mushrooms all his life, and is growing six types of mushrooms in a variety of media.
