STERLING – Family, friends and supporters of a former Sterling teacher battling aggressive cancer are forming a human chain around her block Sunday afternoon.

Jessica Strader, 29, who was a a special education teacher at Jefferson Elementary School, has fought an aggressive breast cancer since February 2010. By October 2011 it had spread to her brain.

Supporters are making the chain near the Strader home as a show of support for her; her husband, Jared; and their two children, son Dominique, 9, and daughter Khloe, 2.

They invite anyone interested to join them to offer prayers of peace and comfort for Strader and her family.

The group will gather in the rear parking lot at Challand Middle School at noon Sunday, then will form the chain around the block, if possible.

Participants are encouraged to wear their “Team Jess” shirts or other pink clothing.
