Advancement: The winners in each event from each sectional meet advance to the state meet at New Trier High School, Feb. 22-23. Also, individuals and relay teams in the swimming events who equal or surpass the qualifying time advance to the state meet.

State cut times: 50 freestyle, 21.91; 100 freestyle, 48.09; 200 freestyle, 1:45.39; 500 freestyle, 4:47.79; 100 backstroke, 54.18; 100 breaststroke, 1:00.83; 100 butterfly, 52.87; 200 individual medley, 1:58.51; 200 freestyle relay, 1:28.01; 400 freestyle relay, 3:14.97; 200 medley relay, 1:38.34

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
