Masons’ academic bowl sectionals to feature area teams

BYRON – Area high school students will compete Saturday in the 30th annual Masonic Academic Bowl sectional tournaments, with two local competitions.

Thirty tournaments are planned. Students will compete for cash prizes, with the money going to the schools for scholarships or academic purposes.

Competitions are open to the public, and there is no charge to attend. All matches start at 8:30 a.m., one at Byron High School, 696 N. Colfax St., and the other at Fulton High School, 1207 12th St.

Teams from Byron and Fulton will compete at their respective tournaments. Other area teams competing are Oregon, Ashton-Franklin Center, and Forreston in Byron, and West Carroll, Newman Central Catholic High School, Morrison, Amboy, Bureau Valley, Prophetstown, Erie, and Milledgeville in Fulton.
