ORLAND PARK – Bruce A. Scheidegger, 54, of Orland Park, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in rural Carroll County. 

Born July 31, 1958, in Cuba City, Wis., he was the son of Charles and Audrey Scheidegger. He was a 1976 graduate of Chadwick High School. He graduated from Iowa Western Community College. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and his master’s degree from Western Illinois University. On Oct. 27, 1984, he and Deb Sampson were united in marriage in Prophetstown. 

Scheidegger taught and coached at Prophetstown High School, Dixon High School, and Sterling High School, and currently was the athletic director at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. His memberships included Trinity Lutheran Church of Tinley Park, Illinois Athletic Directors Association and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. 

Surviving are his wife, Deb of Orland Park; three daughters, Samantha (John) Adamczyk of Chicago, Kristin (Kyle Ullmark) Scheidegger of DeKalb, and Molly Scheidegger of Orland Park; father, Charles Scheidegger of Freeport; two sisters, Sherry (Carroll) Haijenga of Baileyville, Lori (John) Scibona of Freeport; brother, Brian (Nicki) Scheidegger of Dixon; mother and father-in-law, Darrel and Glenda Sampson of Prophetstown; and two brothers-in-law, Bryan (Sue) Sampson of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Darwin (Annemarie) Sampson of Libertyville. 

Preceding him in death were his mother, Audrey; and brother-in-law, Doug Sampson. 

Please join Bruce’s family as Carl Sandburg High School presents “Bruce Scheidegger: A Celebration of Life.” The tribute begins at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Eagle Gym at Carl Sandburg High School, 13300 S. LaGrange Road, Orland Park, and should conclude by 3 p.m. Friends also may gather with the family from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th St., Tinley Park. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Contributions may be sent to Walker Mortuary, 321 W. Main St., Freeport, IL 61032.
