Dixon Historic Center renamed?

DIXON – The Dixon Historic Center, 205 W. Fifth St., is considering adding “Northwest Territories” to its name.

The museum is looking for a name that better fits its mission, Executive Director Bill Jones said.

It has Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln rooms, and two new exhibits that recently opened telling the story of the Black Hawk War and the early settlers who farmed after the conflict.

The Northwest Territory was the name for the region that included Illinois before it was granted statehood.
