Dixon High winter concert

DIXON – The Dixon High School Concert Band presents its free winter concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium, 300 Lincoln Statue Drive.

Selections will include "Amparito Roca" by Jaime Texador, "Manhattan Beach" by John Philip Sousa, "Overture in B Flat" by Caesar Giovanni, and "Americans We" by Henry Fillmore.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
