PANA – Maurice W. “Whitey” Pfortmiller, 84, of Pana, formerly of Dixon and Elgin, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Pana Community Hospital. He was a farmer.

Maurice was born July 2, 1928, in Elmhurst, the son of Walter L. and Mable E. (Meyer) Pfortmiller. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Maurice married Frances Louise Larkin on April 30, 1961, in Elgin. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2010.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Colleen) Pfortmiller of Sleepy Hollow and Leroy (Leslie) Pfortmiller of Loves Park; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Virginia Blietz, Shirley Fischbach, and Gloria Evans.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Renee Covert.

Graveside service will be at noon Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, with the Rev. Frank Langholf officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the Dixon American Legion Post 12 Color Guard.

McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana is handling arrangements.
