DIXON – A Lee County grand jury Friday indicted Brian C. Sigler on a single charge of first-degree murder in the strangulation of his wife in the couple’s Dixon home last month.

According to the indictment, Sigler “knowingly strangled Yolanda M. Sigler, knowing that such act created a strong probability of death.”

The grand jury, which meets in secret, hears the state’s evidence and returns a bill of indictment if it determines the case is strong enough to obtain a conviction. Grand jurors do not decide a defendant’s guilt.
