Angel Treasures moving

OREGON – Angel Treasures, the nonprofit Serenity Hospice and Home thrift store at 404 W. Washington St., will move to Mount Morris on April 1.

The new spot will be at 4045 W. state Route 64, next to Dollar General, said Lynn Knodle, executive director of Serenity.

The shop needed more parking space than downtown Oregon could provide, Knodle said.

The store also will start picking up donations, free of charge, in the counties Serenity serves: Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, Winnebago, Whiteside and Stephenson.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Hours may be expanded after the move, she said.

Call 815-732-4422 to reach the shop. Go to serenityhospiceandhome.org for more information on its services.

House of Pain to reopen soon

STERLING – House of Pain has closed temporarily while building repairs are being done, owner Mikey Rascon said, adding that he hopes the tattoo shop at 10 E. Fourth St. will re-open sometime this week.

The leaking roof has been repaired, the ceiling tiles must be replaced and the flooring might also need to be repaired or replaced, he said.

Rascon is trying to set up appointments for later in the month. He can be reached at 815-716-1754.

Twin City Cafe cuts weekend hours

STERLING – Twin City Cafe is no longer open 24 hours a day on weekends.

The downtown cafe at 23 Third St. will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. 7 days a week, manager Racan Cid said. It also had been open from 6 a.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Sunday, he said.

Business is “very slow,” and more parking is needed, he said.

It’s Showtime

DIXON – Owner John Parsons is planning a grand opening sometime next week for It’s Showtime, 114 S. Peoria Ave.

The business will offer printing services, including printing T-shirts, will sell new and used jewelry, and will provide recording, management, booking, sound and lighting services for entertainment performances.
