Spelling bee set for Feb. 21 at Dixon High

DIXON – The annual Lee/Ogle Regional Spelling Bee will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 at Dixon High School, 315 Lincoln Statue Drive.

Twenty-nine third- through eighth-graders will compete for the regional championship.

The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to National Harbor, Md., to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee at the end of May.

The winner also will receive Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, a $100 U.S. savings bond and a 1-year online subscription to Encyclopedia Brittanica.

The second-place winner will receive Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, a Kindle Touch and a 1-year online subscription to Encyclopedia Brittanica.

The third-place winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to Amazon.com and a 1-year online subscription to Encyclopedia Brittanica. The fourth-place winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
