ROCHELLE – Betty Jean Rhoads, 78, of Rochelle, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She worked as a skein winder for Caron International, retiring in 1972.

Betty was born July 28, 1934, the daughter of Eugene and Nellie (Dean) Wardell. She married John R. Rhoads on April 19, 1963. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2006.

Survivors include four sons, Donald (Linda) and Richard (Deana), both of Rochelle, Daniel (Melissa) of Manhattan, Kan., and Michael (Laurie) of Rochelle; one stepdaughter, Linda (Miguel) Medrano of Rockford; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Rhoads; son, Tony Rhoads; her parents; grandson, Sergio Miranda Jr.; brother, Bobby Waddell; and sister, Edna Jefferys.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Mendota.

A memorial will be established.
