OREGON – A Rock Falls man was sentenced to 26 years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl in Polo almost 6 years ago.

Eddie Johnson, 49, pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault Monday in Ogle County Court. As part of his plea agreement, five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child younger than 13 and five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child 13 to 16 were dismissed.

He assaulted the girl several times over a period of several months in 2007, Ogle County State’s Attorney Michael C. Rock said. Charges were filed on Dec. 2, 2010.

According to court records, the girl turned 13 before the abuse ended.

Johnson also was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault in Lee County in 1992 and sentenced to 26 years for that offense. He was released in 2005 or possibly earlier, Rock said.
