DIXON – A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 15 for a Dixon man charged with choking his wife to death in their home last month.
Brian C. Sigler, 34, appeared briefly in court Wednesday via closed-circuit TV. He is represented by Sterling attorney Jim Mertes.
Sigler is in Lee County Jail on a $2 million bond.
According to court documents, Sigler choked his wife, Yolanda, 34, in their home at 230 Lincolnway on Jan. 12 before stabbing himself in the neck and abdomen with a knife.
Police found Sigler in an upstairs bathtub; his wife’s body was found in the living room.
According to court records, when police asked where his wife was, Sigler said: “She’s dead. I killed her. She’s downstairs in the room by the dining room, then I cut myself.”
