Peter A. Linville

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Peter Allen Linville, 68, of Davenport, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home.

Pete was born Aug. 3, 1944, to Richard and Vivian Linville at St. Luke Hospital in Chicago. Pete spent his childhood growing up in Chicago; South Bend, Ind.; and St. Louis before his family settled in the Quad Cities. After graduating from Davenport Central High School, Pete was employed by Alcoa and then by Blohm’s Garage, which he eventually purchased and owned for 25 years. After selling the business, he continued working at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park in Davenport. Pete also served one term in the Army (1969-1970).

Pete was an outstanding mechanic and a wizard with tools and machines, but most importantly, a loving husband, stepfather, and doting grandfather. In addition to family, Pete enjoyed attending NASCAR and Indy races.

He is survived by his son, Jim (Julie) Dietz; daughter, Debbie; six wonderful grandchildren, Erick, Brigitte, Michael, Zayn, Saja, and Yazan; his brother, Dick (Penny) Linville of Sterling; and sister, Sue Slavin of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Brigitte; his parents; and his brother, Tom.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary in Davenport.
