Medical helicopter resumed in Rockford after crash

ROCKFORD (AP) — Rockford Memorial Hospital has resumed its helicopter program after a crash killed a pilot and two nurses in December.
The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/VGKBFR) that the REACT program started flying again Sunday with a temporary aircraft. The first flight was from Freeport to the Rockford hospital.
The hospital's permanent aircraft will be a Eurocopter EC135. It should be ready within two months. Right now it's being painted and outfitted with new technology.
A December crash killed pilot Andy Olesen and flight nurses Jim Dillow and Karen Hollis. The helicopter crashed in Lee County on the way to pick up a patient in Mendota.
