Local schools competing Saturday

DIXON – Teams of students from six area schools will take part in the MathCounts program competition Saturday at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2.

Fifty sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders will compete in tests involving probability, statistics, linear algebra and polynomials. Schools represented are St. Anne Elementary School and St. Mary School in Dixon, Byron Middle School, Rochelle Middle School, Morrison Junior High School, and St. Mary School in Sterling.

Written testing will start at 9 a.m., with a final match of oral competition at 11:20 a.m. in room 1K4. The final match is open to the public. The top teams and individuals from the written competiion will represent area schools in the state MathCounts competition in March. Call 815-288-2261 for more information.
