DIXON – A new University of Illinois Extension program, Social Media and Your Business, soon will be available online.
The series is being piloted in partnership with the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce at 9 a.m. Feb. 20 at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2.
Participants will build an action plan for using social media, consider how social media impacts their customer service, create an acceptable use plan for their business and learn how to measure their results.
The program was developed based on feedback from local business owners.
The program asks business owners to examine goals and objectives, target audiences, customer comfort level with technology, and how to measure the success of their social media use.
“As University of Illinois Extension Community and Economic Development Educators we are always seeking ways to help the local business community, and we know social media can be very beneficial to small businesses. However, at the same time, it can be confusing and time consuming so we wanted to give small businesses the tools they need to make sure their efforts are meeting the goals and objectives of their businesses,” Terry Feinberg, Extension community and economic development educator, said.
The pilot workshop is free. Participants will be asked to evaluate the program to assist in finalizing the best possible program for delivery statewide.
