Mark T. Kelly, 41, of Clinton, Iowa; 1:12 p.m. Jan. 27 on East Main Street; failure to signal when required, driving under the influence of alcohol; given notice to appear in court.

Shawana J. Jones, 35, of Sterling; Jan. 22; failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Tyler N. Toensing, 29, of Prophetstown; Jan. 23; operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Brian E. Kenseth, 54, of Morrison; Jan. 27; parking right wheels to curb only ordinance violation.

Richard L. Stone, 34, of Clinton, Iowa; Jan. 28; operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed, leaving the scene of an accident.

Michael W. Rennie Jr., 18, of Morrison; Wednesday; no valid registration.

State Police

Greg T. Furman, 48, of Creston; 8:31 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Road and north State Route 38, Ogle County; failure to yield private road or driveway after backing into a vehicle driven by Reagan D. Dettman, 35, of Rochelle, while plowing snow. Dettman was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital. Aid provided by Rochelle and Creston Fire departments.

Kristy A. Rush, 39, of Clinton, Iowa; 11:04 p.m. Saturday at LeFevre Road, east of McCue Road, Whiteside County; driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, Whiteside County warrant – failure to appear; posted $250.

Abril M. Brantley, 21, of Markham; 2:26 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 39, Lee County; speeding, two child restraint violations, driving with a suspended license; posted I-Bond. Arrested at the same time was Trumell K. Holmes, 25, of Chicago; Illinois Department of Corrections warrant – parole violation; taken to Lee County Jail.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
