Tax dollars are well spent for township roads

When we have a snowstorm, the snowplows and other snow removal equipment in the area are all in use at the same time. We can't wait for days, weeks or months for someone else to get done using them.

It is vital to get and keep roads open as soon as possible. What about heart attacks and childbirths? What about fires? What about school buses? What about people trying to get home from work?

Farm animals must be fed and watered. They are not always kept on the premises of the caretaker.

The township is an area small enough that the road commissioner knows whether there is a snow problem. The equipment is close enough that it can be put to immediate use.

Perhaps the reason people don't attend township board meetings is that they are satisfied with the service they get. Also, they can contact township officials easily outside of regular meetings.

The tax dollars I spend for township government is money well spent.

Note to readers – Eleanor Zimmerlein is a resident of May Township in Lee County.
