Artists can apply for project money

FREEPORT – The Freeport Art Museum announces the opening of a second grant cycle for Community Art Access grant money.

FAM has been awarded $4,000 through the Illinois Arts Council’s Community Arts Access regranting program. After the museum adds a cash match to the award, the amount available will be near $5,000.

The money is designated to support artists and nonprofit art organizations in Carroll, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, and Stephenson counties. All eligible grant proposals are reviewed by a panel representing all five counties.

The grants are available for visual, musical, performing, literary, and inter-disciplinary arts projects that provide community-based programming.

Projects should utilize artists from the northwest Illinois area. Projects or programs must make an effort to serve diverse and underserved audiences. Applicants are encouraged to seek funding from a variety of sources. Eligible projects are those taking place between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31.

For help with completing a grant application, contact Jessica Caddell, director at the museum. Grant applications and guidelines are available on the museum’s website www.freeportartmusuem.org or can be requested by calling the museum at 815-235-9755. Completed proposals are due by 5 p.m. March 1.
