DIXON – A 19-year-old sex offender was sentenced Thursday to 3 years in prison for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

Christopher S. Brown also was sentenced to 2 years, to be served consecutively, for violating his sex offender registry by failing to report a change of employment.

In September, the girl's parents called Amboy Police and said Brown engaged in many sexual acts with her between May 27 and July 15. During an interview with her, officers learned at least two of the acts happened in the presence of an 11-year-old girl.

The month before, Brown was charged with two misdemeanors for giving a tattoo to two 16-year-old girls.

Those charges, along with additional sex abuse, sexual exploitation of a child, and violating sex offender registry charges were dropped Thursday.

Brown is not listed on the state sex offender registry because he was a minor when convicted in 2010.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
