OREGON – Free tax preparation will be offered through early April at Rock River Center, 810 S. 10th St.

American Association of Retired Persons volunteers will be on hand for tax preparation for low- to moderate-income senior citizens.

Appointments are re-quired.

Other events at the center are:

■ February Birthdays, 11:30 a.m. Tuesday: Lunch will be a soup and sandwich potluck. Those attending are asked to bring a slow cooker of their favorite soup and/or sandwich fixings to share. Reservations required.

■ Sweetheart Dance, 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 17: Music by Music Express with refreshments and raffles. Admission is $7, payable at the door. Proceeds will go to local “sweethearts” Thomas Jones and Chelsey Janssen of Oregon.

■ Joe Conroy of American Classic Tours, 2 p.m., Feb. 21: Information will be presented about the company’s this year’s tour season.

■ Triple Play Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. Feb. 26: Michele Miller of Research Alliance for Accessible voting will explain and demonstrate the use of the Automark System for voting. A shepherd’s pie will cost $5. Bingo will be played after lunch. Reservations are needed by Feb. 22.

■ March Birthday Party, 11:30 a.m. March 12: Those attending are asked to bring their favorite casserole, side dish or dessert for a potluck.

■ AARP Driver Safety Program: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 21 and 22: This 8-hour defensive driving program is for those 55 and older. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Payment must be made by check in advance at the center.

■ Triple Play Tuesday, 11 a.m. March 26: Lynn Shank of Ogle County Housing Authority will share information and answer questions about public housing in the county. A chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, and salad lunch will be $5. Free games of bingo are planned. Reservations are due March 22.

■ April 17 is the scheduled day for Spring Fling.
