ROCK FALLS – Fredrick R. Sosnowski, 72, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He was employed by Chicago Transit Authority in the maintenance department.

Fredrick was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Alex and Mary (Owca) Sosnowski. He married Mary Fernandez on Feb. 14, 2001, in Las Vegas. He served in the Marine Corps. He attended St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.  

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Rhonda Sosnowski of Chicago; three sons, Fredrick R. Sosnowski of La Crosse, Wis., Steven Sosnowski of Los Angeles, and Matthew Sosnowski of Westmont; one sister, Joyce Cornett of Rock Falls; one brother, Alex (Barbara) Sosnowski of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by the memorial service at noon, Saturday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak of St. Andrew Catholic Church officiating. Military honors will be accorded after the service.

A memorial has been established.
