Others can learn thriftiness from townships

Thanks, Sauk Valley Media, for putting the spotlight on townships [SV Weekend, Jan. 26]. Townships have been working long and hard with little recognition over the years.

As a former highway commissioner in South Dixon Township, it’s nice to see that the townships are still operating on money they have, not borrowed on future taxes with deficit spending.

Keep writing the township stories. Maybe some of the politicians on the county, state and national level will learn how to live on a balanced budget without having to borrow against future generations.
