If approved, sales would be allowed from 6 to 1 a.m.

MORRISON – The Whiteside County Board's executive committee Tuesday recommended Sunday liquor-sale hours be expanded.

The full board will vote on the recommendation at its March 19 meeting. If it passes, Sunday hours will be the same as the rest of the week: 19 hours, from 6 to 1 a.m.

Liquor now may be sold only 10 hours, from noon to 10 p.m. on Sundays.

Rock River Golf and Pool in Rock Falls, which has a restaurant, is asking to serve alcohol earlier on Sundays to accommodate its customers, said Jim Duffy, county board chairman.

Also in March, the board will vote on consolidating the Whiteside County Regional Office of Education with the Lee/Ogle ROE.

If the Lee, Ogle and Whiteside counties' boards can vote in February and March on the consolidation, the offices can be fully consolidated by July 1, 2015, the Whiteside County Regional Superintendent said. The two offices already have agreed that if an employee resigns or retires, they will not replace the employee without consulting each other, he said.

The consolidated office will work mainly out of Sondgeroth's current office at 1001 W. 23rd St. in Sterling, although it might have satellite offices in Lee and Ogle counties, he said

"I really wanted it to have a presence in Sterling, and it will."

To attend

The Whiteside County Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5 and March 19 at Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center, 200 E. Knox St. in Morrison.
