Morrison council to seek sewer system grant
IEPA wants overflows into Rock Creek to stop
MORRISON – The City Council voted unanimously Monday to apply for a grant to help pay for $600,000 in wastewater system improvements.
The project would involve lining some of the city's sewer pipes with plastic, and repairing the sewer pipes that cannot be lined, to reduce the amount of rainwater and other undesired fluids that enter the city's sewer system.
If approved, the Illinois Department of Economic Opportunity grant would cover 75 percent of the project costs, or $450,000; the city would have to pay the rest – $125,000 – with money from its water and sewer fund.
