Terone Johnson had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Ronnie Johnson scored 15 to lead Purdue to a 65-62 victory over Iowa on Sunday in West lafayette, Ind.
Donnie Hale had 12 points and five rebounds and D.J. Byrd had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Boilermakers (11-9, 4-3 Big Ten), who have won four of their last five.
Mike Gesell had 18 points to lead the Hawkeyes. Roy Devyn Marble, Aaron White and Melsahn Basabe each scored 12 points for Iowa (13-7, 2-5). Basabe also had eight rebounds.
Purdue never trailed in overtime. Ronnie Johnson scored the go-ahead basket with 1:27 left in overtime to give Purdue a 61-59 lead. The Hawkeyes missed two free throws and two field goals and Byrd extended the lead with two free throws with 30 seconds left to make it 63-59.
The two teams meet again on Feb. 27 in Iowa City.
No. 7 Indiana 75, N. 13 Michigan State 70: Victor Oladipo finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and six steals, leading No. 7 Indiana to a victory over No. 13 Michigan State in Bloomington, Ind.
The Hoosiers (18-2, 6-1 Big Ten) have won three straight overall and two in a row in this series.
Michigan State (17-4, 6-2) was led by Gary Harris with 21 points and Adreian Payne who had 18 points and doubled his season total by making three 3-pointers.
No. 17 Creighton 81, S. Illinois 51: Doug McDermott had 21 points and 10 rebounds and No. 17 Creighton shot 63 percent, bouncing back from a pair of road losses with an easy victory at struggling Southern Illinois in Carbondale.
Gregory Echenique added 12 points and 11 rebounds and the Bluejays (18-3, 7-2 MVC) were 12 for 20 from 3-point range with Ethan Wragge hitting his first four attempts and Jahenns Manigat going 4 for 4. Creighton also dominated on the boards with a 39-19 cushion and has won 10 straight in the series while shaking off setbacks at Wichita State and Drake.
Desmar Jackson scored Southern Illinois' first 10 points then later on went 21 minutes without scoring before finishing with 16 for the Salukis (8-12, 1-8). Southern Illinois has lost nine of 10.
