GENESEO – Ellen L. Henry, 80, of Geneseo, formerly of Erie, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo. She worked at Ida’s Café in Erie.

Ellen was born June 6, 1932, in Geneseo, the daughter of Elmer and Ruby (Brooks) Jacobs. She married Burdell Henry in 1950, in Geneseo. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Survivors include her children, Greg (Mary Jo) Henry of Osco, Debbie (Marty) Grams of Morrison, Jeff (Tammy) Henry of Fort Worth, Texas, Marty (Alice) Henry of Atkinson, and Jodi DeMuynck of Morrison; sister-in-law, Linda Jacobs of Erie; four grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Percy, Johnny, and Robert Jacobs, and a sister, Nancy Bell. 

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Erie. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Erie Cemetery.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
