Armed civilians have confronted hostile criminals

I see that MSNBC's Ed Schultz made a claim that the U.S. has never had an armed civilian stop a shooting. It did not take much research to debunk that statement.

An article by WOAI News, San Antonio, in August 2012 stated that a woman was stabbed just outside her schoo” just after dropping off her child. As a result of an argument, the girl's father allegedly stabbed the woman several times. A licensed, concealed-carry bystander pulled his firearm and ordered the offender to drop the knife. The bystander and a school district officer took custody of the offender.

In another 2012 incident in central Texas, two neighbors got into an argument about one neighbor's dogs. The offender allegedly went back into his home and returned with a gun and shot his neighbor and another woman (friend of the victim) as she ran out of the residence. She then was shot again execution style. He also shot the dogs.
