The Fulton boys basketball team’s 63-38 victory over Amboy on Friday night was played in Fulton, not Amboy, as was stated in the roundup in the weekend edition.

Additionally, Nick Fish led the Steamers with 15 points, but was omitted from the recap.

NFC rolls past AFC in Pro Bowl game

HONOLULU – Sack-happy defensive end J.J. Watt went out for a pass as a wide receiver, retiring center Jeff Saturday snapped to two Mannings on opposite teams, and the NFC blew past the AFC 62-35 in a Pro Bowl that could be the could be the league’s last.

Whether the NFL’s all-star game will return or not is a question league officials will ponder the next few months.

Woods leads by four at Farmers

After fog wiped out Saturday’s play at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, Tiger Woods shot a 3-under 69 in Sunday’s third round to build a four-shot lead.

Cubs, Villanueva finalize 2-year deal

The Chicago Cubs and pitcher Carlos Villanueva agreed to terms on a two-year contract Saturday.

Villanueva spent the last two seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, pitching to a 7-7 record with a 4.16 ERA in 38 games (16 starts) in 2012.

Fake throw to third to be called balk

Major League Baseball is imposing a rule, to take affect this season, that pitchers who fake a throw to third base and then throw to another base will be charged with a balk, according to the New York Times.

Bulls fall flat in third, lose to Wizards

The Chicago Bulls were outscored 23-11 in the third period of an 86-73 loss to the Wizards on Saturday in Washington.

Emeka Okafor had 15 points and 16 rebounds for the Wizards. Nate Robinson scored 19 for the Bulls.

PREP BASKETBALL

Simeon holds off Young in showdown

Simeon, ranked second in the nation, edged top-ranked Young 44-41 on Saturday at Chicago State University.

Jaylon Tate led Simeon (18-2) with 12 points, while Kendrick Nunn added 10 points and six assists. Both are University of Illinois commits.

Duke-bound Jabari Parker had just seven points and six rebounds, but held Young (18-2) star Jahlil Okafor to just eight points.
