STERLING – This ought to heat up at least one cold winter night.

Shakespeare in 97 minutes flat

DIXON – Imagine speed dating William Shakespeare! Join actors Kevin Tumleson, Aaron Berogan and Tim Boles in this hilarious send-up of the Bard, performing 37 plays in 97 minutes. Performances are at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at Philander Hall, 308 Deer Chase.

Short film fest

MORRISON – Short films created by local students will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison High School auditorium, 643 Genesee Ave.

A panel of judges will award prizes in the categories of music, animation, and general interest. The audience also will be able to vote for the People's Choice award in each category.

Admission is $5, with proceeds benefitting technology in the Morrison School District. Go to for more information.

Lend Me a Tenor

BYRON – The Byron Civic Theatre, 850 N. Colfax St., presents the comedy "Lend Me a Tenor."

Set in 1934, renowned tenor Tito Merelli, known to his fans as "Il Stupendo," is scheduled to sing the lead in Otello. Unfortunately, even before the star leaves his hotel room, things begin to unravel. What follows is a chain-reaction of mistaken identity, farcical plot twists, double entendres and innuendoes.
