Today is the last day to buy a raffle ticket for a brand-new Chevrolet Spark worth more than $13,000.

Eight area high school athletic booster clubs will benefit from the proceeds, which so far have topped $70,000.

Tickets are $10 each and are available at any Pete Harkness dealership or Community State Bank branch, or from any boosters from Newman Central Catholic, Rock Falls, Prophetstown, Erie, Morrison, Milledgeville, Polo and Fulton high schools.

The winner will be announced at a chili cookoff that starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pete Harkness Buick, at state Route 40 at Lynn Boulevard in Sterling. The winner will be announced at 1 p.m. You need not be present to win.

Pete Harkness Auto Group donated the 2013 Spark, along with the raffle tickets, promotional banners and such, and all proceeds will go to the school the buyers designate.

Money from any ticket that’s not legible, or has no school indicated, will be donated to the Self Help Enterprises Endowment Fund.

Contact Harkness marketing director Kristina Kaecker at kkaecker@peteharkness.com or 815-625-6300 for more information.
