Girls basketball: Fulton notches another Three Rivers victory on road in Amboy

Katherine Wayne and Morgan Wierema each scored 12 points as the Fulton Steamers continued a late-season surge, beating the Clippers 38-33 on Thursday in Amboy. 

The Steamers (10-17, 5-7 Three Rivers) led 31-21 after three quarters and had to hold off the Clippers in the fourth quarter. 

Autumn Smith and Brooke Lovgren both scored eight points for Amboy (12-11, 5-7). 

Morrison 46, Bureau Valley 36: Thanks to the fourth-period free-throw shooting of Chelsea Eads and Lakin Goodman, the Fillies doubled their Three Rivers victory total and kept the Storm off the board in Morrison.

The duo shot 10-for-12 at the stripe in the final period after Morrison (3-20, 2-11) led just 29-28 after three. Nicole Bornsheuer scored 15 points for BV (1-23, 0-11), which outscored its host 9-5 in the third.

Riverdale 68, Erie 31: The Rams built a 41-19 lead and didn’t relent in a Three Rivers game in Port Byron.

Hannah Nimrick hit five 3s and scored 23 points for Riverdale (19-2, 10-1). Laykin MIner led Erie (17-8, 6-5) with 11, hitting two 3s.

Oregon 52, Stillman Valley 43: The Hawks earned their 20th win of the season in dominant fashion at the Blackhawk Center. 

Sam Lambrigtsen had 25 points as Oregon (20-5, 8-1 Big Northern West) led 45-24 after three quarters. Emylyn Wright added 12 points. 

Sydney Shelburne had 14 points for Stillman Valley (3-20, 0-8). 

Pearl City 50, Milledgeville 49: The Wolves hit the winning free throw with 1.4 seconds left in the game to pull out a win over the Missiles in Milledgeville. 

Morgan Adolph led Milledgeville (5-16) with 16 points. Courtney Swalve added 11 points. 

Ashley Cropper scored 15 points for Pearl City (11-7).

Polo 47, AFC 29: Aleetra Roberts scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Marcos past the Raiders in the NUIC East clash at Polo.

Brecken Albrecht added 10 points and five assists for the Marcos (6-13, 5-5). Alisyn Essex scored 10 points and Kayla Colwell nine for AFC (9-11, 2-8).

Women’s basketball

Kishwaukee 77, Sauk Valley 46: The Skyhawks could not keep up with the 11th-ranked Kougars in a 31-point Arrowhead Conference loss at Malta.

Sheldeen Joseph scored 21 points to pace Sauk (10-7, 2-3). Lydia Box added eight points. Tami Morice led Kishwaukee (18-5, 5-0) with 24 points.
