Dresses make way to Africa

MAYTOWN – Volunteers can help to sew dresses for girls and pants for boys in Uganda during a Lenten project at St. Patrick Church, 1336 Maytown Road.

This marks the third year for the program. In 2012, 520 dresses and 92 pairs of pants were sent to Uganda. Dresses were given to each girl in a village. Leftover dresses were given to girls in Kampala, Uganda’s capital. In 2011, 107 dresses and 18 pairs of pants were sent with a missionary team from a Princeton church.

Volunteers will meet periodically at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, starting Feb. 20, at the parish hall next to the church. Many women also sew at home.
