Despite Carter Ames’ 24-point performance, the Prophets could not pull a major Three Rivers upset, falling 54-52 in Kewanee.
The Boilermakers (17-3, 10-0 Three Rivers) narrowly remained perfect in conference play, outscoring Prophetstown (11-11, 5-5) 21-15 in the fourth quarter. Dayton Ince scored 19 points and Donovan Oliver 18 for the Boilers.
Pecatonica 52, AFC 50: The Raiders narrowly missed a chance to climb out of the NUIC East cellar in Ashton.
AFC (7-11, 1-6) led 29-24 at the half and 42-41 after three periods, but couldn’t hold off the Indians (8-11, 3-5). Troy Mairs led AFC with 15 points, and Andrew Squires paced Pec with 18.
Eastland 71, Scales Mound 47: The Cougars built a 43-17 halftime lead against their closest competition in the NUIC West.
Austin Hansen and Dalton Shaner led the way with 18 and 14 points, respectively, for Eastland (17-3, 8-0). Stephen Korte led Scales Mound (11-4, 5-1) with 17, eight coming in the final period.
The Cougars hit nine threes, led by Hansen’s four. Skylar Paulson added 10 points.
Sauk Valley 68, Kishwaukee 66: Without injured big man Daven Ottley, the Skyhawks eked out an Arrowhead Conference road win in Malta.
Jalen Riey scored 23 points and Magd Owayed added 18 for Sauk (13-8, 3-2). Carlos Hendrix contributed eight points and 13 assists, and had just one turnover. Kishwaukee (14-5, 1-3) had the ball in the final seconds, but turned in over.
