ROCK FALLS – A 14-year-old boy was in fair condition Friday at CGH Medical Center after police say he ran into a traveling car this week.

The accident was reported about 5:55 p.m. Wednesday at First Avenue and Second Street in Rock Falls.

Rock Falls Police Cmdr. Tammy Nelson said it appears the boy was running from an alley and onto First Avenue from the east when he entered the northbound lane of traffic.

He ran into the side door and window of a northbound 2006 Lincoln Mark LT driven by Valarie Rogers, 61, of Morrison.

Nelson did not know the extent of the boy’s injuries.

The boy’s family said he had to have surgery on his leg.

Police determined Rogers was not at fault for the accident and will not be cited, Nelson said.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
