In response to William Leesman's letter on Jan. 24 ["Sheriff should uphold his oath to Constitution"], I was dismayed by the attack on Sheriff Wilhelmi.

We presented petitions to the Whiteside County Board in support of a resolution in favor of concealed carry in Illinois. Sheriff Wilhelmi stood up and gave his 100 percent support for our cause.

I am sure that his discussion with the board had a great deal of influence and was the reason that the board voted in our favor. I believe that his support for the Second Amendment and the rights of firearm owners is without question.
