Fred W. VanDeWostine

PROPHETSTOWN – Fred W. VanDeWostine, 84, of Prophetstown, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown.

Fred was born July 13, 1928, in Geneseo, the son of Fred B. and June (Bentley) VanDeWostine. He married Florence Brooks on July 13, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa. Fred was a member of Leon United Methodist Church in Prophetstown and Geneseo Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed farming, collecting Jim Beam bottles, key chains, playing cards, and bowling.

Survivors include his wife, Florence of Prophetstown; one daughter, Sylvia (Jim) Lane of Rock Falls; three sons, Lyle (Becky) VanDeWostine and Gene (Carol) VanDeWostine, both of Prophetstown, and Denny (Karen) VanDeWostine of Bettendorf, Iowa; one sister, Leah Abbit of East Moline; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
